Data Import Capabilities for Custom Mapping

Using Microsoft MapPoint 2006, you can import customer and contact information data from Microsoft Excel, Access, or Outlook to create a custom map displaying your customer locations geographically.

Applying Sales and Demographic Data to Your Maps

Microsoft MapPoint 2006 North America is updated to include Year 2000 US Census boundaries and contains nearly twice the demographic and consumer profile data as the previous version. Users can map data by state, county, metropolitan statistical area, ZIP Code, and census tract in the United States, and by province, forward sortation area (FSA), census division, and census subdivision in Canada.

Step-by-step instructions are offered on how to apply sales information and demographic variables to a variety of map types.

You can build custom territories from states, counties or zip code regions, and then map data to these territories to create meaningful data maps.

As you apply data to your map locations, important sales or demographic information can be set to appear in pop-up windows as a location is selected.

Consumer Profile Data from Simmons (North America Version) MapPoint is the first and only place that Simmons data is available at the low level geographies offered in MapPoint. This detailed U.S. consumer purchase behavior data provides information on the lifestyles, media behavior, product purchases, and brand preferences of the U.S. consumer.

Charting Capabilities and Driving Directions

The data mapping and charts feature will allow you to associate more data to a map, giving you the ability to add pie charts or bar charts.

With customized output options, you can print out directions to each location complete with optimized driving routes.

Presenting Your Maps

Maps created in MapPoint can be easily integrated with other Microsoft Office software. In fact, maps can be simply cut and pasted from Microsoft MapPoint into Microsoft Word or PowerPoint!

You can even publish to the web using MapPoint's enhanced "save as web page" feature.

You can create customized maps with MapPoint 2006's drawing tools. Add circles, ovals, scribble and free form shapes to emphasize important information.

MapPoint's custom and multi-symbol pushpins give you the ability to choose symbols that best represent the location.
